Alice's Adventures goes to New York

The National Ballet of Canada will give the New York premiere of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Christopher Wheeldon's 2011 adaptation of Lewis Carroll's story with a score by Joby, next Tuesday 9 September at the David H. Koch Theater. Thereafter follow 6 further performances, until 14 September.

The company co-commissioned the work alongside The Royal Ballet, and gave the North American premiere in Toronto in June of that year. They have since given the U.S. premiere in Los Angeles in October of 2012, and toured the piece around Canada. It remains the highest-grossing production in their 60-year history and the company went on to co-commission, again with The Royal Ballet, Wheeldon's second narrative work with Joby, designer Bob Crowley and lighting designer Natasha Katz, The Winter's Tale, which premiered in London in 2014. The National Ballet of Canada will give the north American premiere in November 2015.

David Briskin will conduct The New York City Ballet Orchestra. For more information see the David H. Koch Theater website.
