The Winter's Tale premieres in London

Joby’s most recent collaboration with choreographer Christopher Wheeldon is also their second full-length work for The Royal Ballet and National Ballet of Canada, a ballet based on Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale.

The premiere took place last week at the Royal Opera House, London, and reviews have been extremely positive, with 5 stars from The Times, The Telegraph, four each from The Guardian, The Financial Times and the Evening Standard, and three from The Independent. The New York Times and several other publications also gave largely favourable reviews.

The production runs until 8 May at the Royal Opera House.

A live broadcast of the performance by The Royal Ballet on 28 April will appear in cinemas worldwide, see The Royal Opera House website for details and links.

The Winter’s Tale reunites the team behind 2011′s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, the first full-length narrative ballet to have been commissioned by the Royal in 16 years, and the first full-length score in 20. Alice has since been performed in Toronto, Los Angeles, Washington D.C. and Tokyo, and will be further toured by the National Ballet of Canada later this year.
