The Southern Oregon Repertory Singers present Joby’s 2019 cantata, A Sheen of Dew on Flowers, in two performances as part of the James M. Collier First Light Festival. The work marries fragments of poetry by women from across thousands of years, to tell the story of a love affair from first meeting to bereavement. It was commissioned by Independent Opera and the Britten Sinfonia and given its premiere by these two ensembles in April 2019, as part of the unveiling of the Victoria and Albert Museum’s acquisition of the Victoria Coronet.
