Joby’s 2015 one-act opera Everest is paired with Rachmaninov’s Aleko in two performances by Chicago Opera Theatre. Relating the events of a tragic ascent of the mountain by a group of climbers in 1996, these performances feature original cast member Andrew Bidlack as expedition leader Rob Hall, and Aleksey Bogdanov as climber Beck Weathers.
