Guardian reviews Chacony


The Guardian’s Martin Kettle today described Joby’s arrangement of Purcell’s Chacony in G Minor, premiered by the BBC Symphony Orchestra under Mark Wigglesworth on Sunday, as “a more daring and astringent orchestration than Britten’s, but an instantly effective and haunting piece of writing, dominated by the soft resonance of bells.” Read the full review of Prom 41 here, and listen to the performance here.
